Potential scale duties
Depending on formulation and membrane-system conditions, antiscalants may be selected to control calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, barium sulphate, strontium sulphate, calcium fluoride, silica or silicate-related deposits.
Use membrane-system scale-projection software or qualified calculations based on feed-water analysis and the maximum concentrate conditions. Confirm the manufacturer’s permitted dose and membrane compatibility.
Overdosing should be avoided. An antiscalant is not a substitute for adequate pretreatment, solids control, dechlorination where required, normalized performance monitoring or timely membrane cleaning.
